About Vistamark

About Vistamark Investments, an independent investment advisory firm in the Chicago area

We founded Vistamark to set a new benchmark for what clients should expect from an investment advisor.

Our leadership spent decades as Chief Investment Officers to institutions, families and advisory firms — and saw the shortcomings of traditional investment and client-service models first-hand.

Vistamark Investments is a 100% employee- and partner-owned, independent, SEC-registered investment adviser and fiduciary headquartered in Hinsdale, Illinois, in the Chicago area. Founded by experienced Chief Investment Officers, we advise families, family offices, foundations, endowments and retirement plan sponsors, and serve financial institutions and family offices as their Integrated Chief Investment Officer™ (iCIO™), from offices in Hinsdale, Chicago and Phoenix.

What we are not: a broker-dealer, a TAMP or model marketplace, or a seller of proprietary products. Vistamark is a fiduciary to every client, with completely transparent fees. We do not take custody of client assets.

Our story

Vista of insight. Mark of excellence.

Vistamark Investments was founded in September 2025 by Matthew Rice, CFA, CAIA, and Sean McEvilly, CFA, after Matt’s two-decade tenure as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Fiducient Advisors — a firm he helped grow from a startup into a national consultancy, where he oversaw investment strategy for more than $260 billion in client assets for endowments, foundations, family offices and retirement plans, and whose team Barron’s recognized in 2020 as the #1 institutional investment consulting team in the nation.

When that firm came under new control, the founders chose to build something smaller on purpose: an independent, 100% employee- and partner-owned adviser where the people who do the research are the people in the room with the client, and where advice is the only thing for sale.

Today Vistamark serves four client practices from offices in Hinsdale, Chicago and Phoenix: families and family offices through the VistaWealth Office™; foundations, endowments and nonprofits; financial institutions — RIAs, multi-family offices and trust departments — through iCIO; and retirement plan sponsors. Financial institutions with billions in client assets have retained Vistamark as their Integrated Chief Investment Officer™. Through its affiliate, Vistamark Consulting, the firm also advises business owners on lower middle-market transactions.

Investment philosophy

Our philosophy is grounded in a disciplined approach that fuses rigorous quantitative analysis, insight across public and private markets, and decades of experience — refined over nearly three decades into the Vistamark investment architecture described below.

We believe outstanding results stem from rigorous research and sourcing, disciplined practices, innovative thinking and careful execution. Our expertise spans traditional and alternative asset classes, including private equity, private credit, hedge funds and real assets, and our leaders have guided clients through the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the dot-com bust, September 11th, the 2008 global financial crisis, the 2020 pandemic, the 2022 invasion of Ukraine and the trade and geopolitical shocks of 2025–2026.

How we are different

  • Fiduciary commitmentAs fiduciaries with completely transparent fees, we put your best interests first.
  • True independence100% employee- and partner-owned, with no proprietary products, so advice is unbiased and free of conflicts.

  • Innovative mindsetWe anticipate market trends, embrace proactive strategies and use advanced technology — including AI — to make institutional-grade management more accessible.
  • Thought leadershipOur CIO wrote the reference books — Nonprofit Asset Management (Wiley, 2012) and Think Like a Family Office (2026) — and the team contributes regularly to industry publications and our own weekly Market Compass.
